MATTHEW MCCONAUGHEY IS A PROUD NEW POP!

The ab-fab actor and his girlfriend, Brazilian model Camila Alves, welcomed a 7-pound, 4-ounce boy, their first child together, Monday evening, E! News confirms. The youngster was born at 6:44 p.m., according to McConaughey's rep. But while this may cut into the Texan's time for sojourns to Nicaragua and lazy days on the beach with Lance, the Sahara star sounds more than ready to embrace daddyhood. "A healthy baby boy was born," McConaughey said tonight in a statement to OK! magazine. "Camila and I were side by side the entire time. We are both tired and elated, and are so happy to have created the greatest miracle in the world—Having a child and making a family. Now comes the greatest adventure—raising one, together." McConaughey first spread the good news of Alva's expectant status on his reggae-playing website.

A-ROD'S WIFE FILES FOR DIVORCE

Mighty A-Rod has just whiffed. The estranged wife of Yankee star Alex Rodriguez filed for divorce Monday in Miami, seeking to dissolve their five-and-a-half-year union. "The marriage of the parties is irretrievably broken because of the husband's extramarital affairs and other marital misconduct," Cynthia Rodriguez's petition reads, adding that the slugger had "emotionally abandoned his wife and children."  While citing numerous alleged infidelities committed by the baseball superstar, C-Rod did not specifically mention Madonna in court papers, after a week of media reports suggesting the Queen of Pop and Rodriguez may have carried on an illicit affair.

U.S. EXPORTS TO IRAN ROSE IN BUSH YEARS

U.S. exports to Iran grew more than tenfold during President Bush's years in office even as he accused Iran of nuclear ambitions and helping terrorists. America sent more cigarettes to Iran -- at least $158 million worth under Bush -- than any other products. Other surprising shipments to Iran during the Bush administration: brassieres, bull semen, cosmetics, fur clothing, sculptures, perfume, musical instruments and possibly even weapons. Top states shipping goods to Iran include California, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio and Wisconsin, according to an analysis by The Associated Press of seven years of U.S. government trade data. Despite increasingly tough rhetoric toward Iran, which Bush has called part of an "axis of evil," U.S. trade in a range of goods survives on-again, off-again sanctions originally imposed nearly three decades ago.

"HUMMUS", "HAMMAS" - WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?

Ali G and Borat creator Sacha Baron Cohen has weighed into the Middle East conflict with a recent gag in which he confused “Hamas” and “hummus” and suggested a settlement of the problem through a “time share” on land between Arabs and Jews. That’s right, the politically-incorrect prankster is back, this time in his latest incarnation as Bruno, a camp fashion presenter in a tight leather jacket and mohican hairstyle. And his latest victims? An Israeli analyst/former Mossad official and a Palestinian academic who thought they were being interviewed for a documentary aimed at explaining the conflict to young people.
